Re: [A/S] 4 WD when towing

We once stayed at the Campground from Hell. It was at Romney, West VA. As
we approached the entrance, we could not see down the road because of trees.
We turned in driving very slowly (pulling our 34') and came around a short
curve. We found ourselves at the bottom of a steep grade, the gravel road washed
out from a recent rain, with a sharp drop-off immediately along the side of
the road. We did not have 4-wheel drive. Starting from a complete stop, we
could not get up the hill. We decided to just back out and go some place else,
but everytime we attempted to back up, the read of the trailer swung out over
the drop-off.

We had the narrow road blocked and a tow truck could not get around us. It
was the only entrance into the campground. We were lucky that the owner was
home - he came down, tied a rope onto the front of our truck, and gave us just
enough leverage to get up the hill. If we had had 4WD, we could have made it.
