[A/S] Re: Tire Rotation/Jacking up the trailer

Jacking in the wrong place can also cause immediate problems.  
 
When I recently replaced the tires on my Safari, the serviceman placed the 
jack on the fresh water tank "pan" (reaching between the two wheels on the 
curb side), instead of on the frame of the trailer.  There was a dull "pop" 
and water started gushing out of the pan. (The tank itself sits in a tub-like 
pan which is secured to the underside of the trailer floor.)
 
The local A/S dealer estimated 3 hours labor (at $90 per hour) to "open and 
inspect" the damage, and he could schedule this work in January <ha>.  (This 
was in Denver).  So we returned home to So. Cal. using full hookups at various 
campgrounds and now have the Safari in to our local A/S repair service.  I'm 
guessing the tire dealer is on the hook for a $600+ bill for this mistake.
 
Moral: Particularly at Non-Airstream facilities, you gotta watch 'em all the 
time.  I was on the wrong side of the trailer when this happened.
