Re: [A/S] Re: Airstream and boat transport
That's a great picture, Imanuel. Thanks for sharing it. How do you think
you get the boat up there and even more important, how do you get it in the
water. That looks to me to be a 14' boat and probably weighs between 500 and
600 pounds. You would be a spectacle indeed and not very much appreciated
at the boat ramps that I frequent.
What I find most interesting is that the boat is held down with one strap,
to the rack no less, with nothing going to the truck. Could you imagine
that thing letting go? And how many people do you think you would kill after
you wipe out your Airstream? I swear, "They shouldn't allow boaters on the
road".
On the problem at hand, I think exploring the idea of putting the boat
trailer immediately behind the truck and then the Airstream with its' brakes
hooked up to the truck in the normal fashion would be worhtwhile. I'll bet
those guys that drove 7 or 8 Jeeps had a guy in the last car acting as
brakeman and thus straitening the train out. That's probably how they got by
with cops too, saying "This is just a tow, see my brother in the last car"
