Jack,

The most common mistake to avoid is putting teflon tape on tubing 
fittings. Use it ONLY on pipe fittings, i.e., tapered fittings. Flared 
tubing fittings seal at the flare, not at the threads -- as is the case 
with the male end that goes into the propane tank valve. No teflon tape 
there, either. Other than that, it's a simple job.
