[A/S] 70s bedroom lights

Wilfred -

We have the joy of intermittent incandescent lights at the head of
the beds of our '72 27-footer. They don't go on and off while we're
parked, but every time we move the trailer they may or may not decide
to turn on when the switch is thrown. Hasn't been enough of an issue
to look at closely (yet), but if anyone has solved the problem a hint
would be much appreciated.

If you're having problems with the large incandescent fixture
surrounding the rear vent, we've had problems with the rotary
switches on all those fixtures, so that's a place to start looking.
We replaced the center fixture with a Fantastic fan (and are
delighted with it), and put in a florescent fixture centered in the
ceiling just in front of it (delighted with it, too, when it works,
but it's got a bad case of the "intermittents").

We just had some major work done at Oasis in Tucson (frame
reinforcing kit, new axles & brakes), and while there found that
there's an Airstream upgrade kit for those center incandescent
fixtures. Replaces the incandescents with florescent. Definitely a
good thing for lowering electrical draw while dry camping.
