RE: [A/S] Digest Number 2179

I'm a woodworker, and built a "U" shaped table to fit over the center
console in my 1996 Suburban. Had to cut the legs of the "U" at an angle to
fit the slope of the floor over the transmission to keep the top level. Put
a non slip shelf liner on the top, and it makes a very nice place to put the
laptop. The GPS receiver sits on the dashboard.

To save the batteries in the laptop I use an inverter connected to the
cigarette lighter terminal to provide 120 volt power to the laptop's AC
adapter, and a Wal Mart universal DC adapter to supply the voltage to the
GPS receiver. Makes a stable, not battery dependant setup.
