Isabelle,
If the battery has been allowed to remain discharged for a long period of
time, it may not take an immediately charge.  It needs to be allowed to
charge at least overnight with nothing else turned on.  Also, have someone
check the battery for sufficient water and if low use distilled water to
bring the level up to the lower bottom of each cell opening.  If the battery
still won't hold a charge, then having it run thru an equalization cycle may
bring it back to life.  Finding someone that knows what equalization is and
has a charger capable of equalizing a deep cycle battery may be another
problem.
