Dave,

If you can work a pair of vise grips and a screw driver,
you can fix the problem yourself. What has happen is the
following: the cord inside the fabric where is attaches
to the metal has gone bad. I just did the one on my 26'
Overlander that had the same problem. The fix, call
ZipDee, tell them the problem, they will sell you the
plastic cord, plus the thread with all the instruction
on how to take it off. After taking it off, you will 
need to take the awning fabric+new cord to a person
that can sew in your hometown. Have them replace the
cord(about $25) and then follow the info ZipDee sent on
how to put it back on. Takes about 30-60 minutes to take
it off(with two people) the repair time and about 60-90
minutes to put it back on. You will need to drill out the
old rivets and re-rivet the repaired awning back on the 
awning tube. ZipDee offers the rivets, I suggest you buy 
them. They have a flatter/wider head.
ZipDee does sell a crimp/decrimp tool. I understand its a 
pair of visecrips. I did not buy them.
