Greetings Jon!

The Fantastic Vent is a significant improvement over the factory 
fans used by Airstream prior to the adoption of the Fantastic Vent 
for a regular production option (IMHO).  In my experience they are 
much quieter than the factory issue fan, and move MUCH more air.  In 
addition, the Fantastic Vent can be purchased with both a thermostat 
and a rain sensor that will automatically close the vent in the 
event of inclement weather.  I have had the Fantastic Vent 
representative replace all of the original vents on both my 
Overlander and Minuet when attending International Rallys in the

In fact, I was so well satisfied with the Fantastic Vents that I 
purchased two of their Endless Breeze fans three years ago.  They 
were a wonderful addition that helped to keep my Chihuahuas cool 
when attending the International Rallys before the option of 30 AMP 
electric service was offered to attendees (this year's International 
Rally at Lansing, MI was the first to my knowledge where attendees 
were offered the option of 30 AMP electric service).

The only disadvantage of which I am aware with coaches of the era 
when your's was produced is that you loose the original light 
fixture.  There may be a method of adapting the original fixture, 
but most who have posted about making this conversion have installed 
Thin-Lite Flourescent fixtures to replace the ceiling light/fan 
fixture that was factory original.
