Re: [A/S] Tambour Replacement
Folks,
I've got a 200 year old English roll-top desk that I refinished and had
sticky tambour door syndrome with it. I tried bees wax ....then I tried
Carnauba.... found out the wood fibers are a pretty good sponge.
Then I used adhesive-backed teflon tape on the sides of the u-channel
...cleaned the channels out and wiped them out with some denatured alcohol
first. Later found out that the UHMW (Ultra High Molecular Weight) tape is a
little tougher and much more slippery...costs more too.
IIRC the tape was 1/2" wide x 36 yards and was about $13.00 a roll. One
source is http://www.cshyde.com/tapecat.htm and they have a 1-800 number.
The fun is in the search for that better mousetrap,
Craig
