[A/S] Re: AutoRide option

The 1972 Cadillac automatic level control doesn't have a fuse. The
compressor is powered by the engine vacuum, and the valve on the rear axle
is mechanical. They used softer springs with the auto level system, so the
rear sets low without air pressure in the shocks. Don't know about the '70
models. They changed body styles, engine compression and other things in
'71.

Seems like what you need to do with the system is to install a valve in the
line to the shocks so that pressure to them can be closed off from the pump
and leveling valve, and held at a set level in the shocks while you are
towing. Just like you pump up air shocks or air bags to a set pressure and
leave them. If the shocks are connected to a leveling valve that changes
their pressure, it seems like they are going to defeat the load leveling
bars on the hitch.
