[A/S] Flag pole holder
David, you can make a flag pole holder yourself (small welding job) to
fit any diameter pole you choose. My inclination would be to stay with
a holder for three flags, not five flags.
If you don't weld, ask any welder to do it for you. Then, all you'd
have to do is provide the attaching hardware (U-Bolts) and figure out
if shims will be needed. Depending on the welder, your biggest decision
will be aluminum or steel. The holder is a small item so IMHO weight
isn't a significant factor.
If you'd rather buy an aluminum holder already made, then check out
those described in last week's earlier posts. Likewise, be aware that
if you want a holder with a larger diameter, he'll make it for you.
It's only a matter of using a larger drill bit.
On our '89 32', I made up poles of a larger diameter because my smaller
diameter poles (the standard at that time) bent while I was away for
the day. A stiff breeze came up and gave the flags a severe workout.
Because of my newly made up larger diameter poles, I called the guy and
he made a holder to fit my three larger poles. Price was the same as
for a holder with smaller diameter holes.
Polish your aluminum bottles once or twice a year. It takes about 15
minutes for each one and you might like the difference. Some owners
could care less and that's okay too. The name of the game is to enjoy
your Airstream in whatever ways suit your fancy.
