RE: [A/S] sway
I have a Reese Dual Cam hitch and have never disconnected the sway bars when
backing. I have backed up as far as 100 yards and can put the tow and
trailer at over 90 degrees with no negative results. If the hitch is set up
properly I can not think of a reason why backing would be a problem. The
only time I have ever disconnected the bars is if I could not be straight
when disconnecting the hitch from the ball.
This is my second Reese dual cam hitch. I have been to Alaska three times
now as well as all over the western US under all speeds, road conditions,
and weather with a properly set up Reese Dual Cam Sway Control hitch. I
NEVER feel semi-s or cross winds with my setup. I have been put in a
dangerous situation by another driver twice and have had to make an extreme
avoidance maneuver and there was no loss of control or hint of sway. I have
the performance of a Hensley at one quarter of the price.
