RE: [A/S] Door Handle needed

Burt,
You might call Walt in Ocala, FL.
Ours did crack last year and we searched all across this country without
finding one. And it won't take a weld, even though we took it to someone
who works with welding all types of metal. It only held up long enough
to try to put it back on.
You can't replace only the handle unless you try a knob like we did, of
course the day it broke we had to use a vice grip to open the door to
get out. Finally we rigged a round kitchen cabinet knob and used it for
nearly a year until we were back at Walt's and he happened to see our
"knob handle" and told us he had one in the back, and replaced it. The
handle and the backing plate on the inside of the door.
We even spoke to Airstream Company people at the Sarasota rally, and
they said the reason we can't replace them is the manufacturer went out
of business.
The only thing anyone offered was a whole new lock assembly which
required some retrofitting to use it. We didn't like enlarging the
opening for that type of unit.
