The generator connection thing has gotten blown completely out of hand.  The
Honda generators do not operate like the average electrical system.  The
proposed "ground wire is not really necessary.  If it makes you feel better
do it.  The Honda is a true generator not an alternator.  It generates DC
that supplies an inverter that produces the AC sine wave.

As an example of one of the other signs of uniqueness, plug in one of those
regular AC polarity testers.  It will show an error, but nothing is wrong.
If you take the generator apart and switch the wires in an attempt to
correct the displayed error, the change will have no effect.
