there are wheel sets designed for bumper hitches which could be adapted to the
frame/back bumper of the trailer.  Problem is, as you can visiualize, the
bending of the frame/trailer if the wheel/axles dropped into a pretty deep ditch
or gutter and you start suspending the trailer between the back end of the frame
and the mid portion of the frame.  best always to do as suggested, carry along
or keep in your garage, a pair of 2x10s you can lay across the "ditch" for the
trailer tires to roll on, flattening the gutter out, as it were.
