Hello Patti, I don't know what year or how many miles are on your 
Suburban. With this in mind, Battery cables will corrode on the 
inside and appear to be in good shape and not allow proper voltage 
to reach the starter. I would think this would be something that a 
good dealership would check out, but then, unless this is something 
that a person specializes in they may not know. A mechanic cannot be 
expected to know everything. I found this out by talking to a person 
that specialized in auto electric problems. I had this problem on a 
cable that connected two batteries together. I was only getting 
power from one. Makes it hard to start a diesel. Hope this helps,
