Re: [A/S] Algae in water tank
Marvin:
The last house I owned had a swimming pool that I neglected once and it
developed algae. Based on that experience I suggest the following:
1. add 1 or 2 gallons of bleach to the tank.
2. fill the tank with water
3. drive around 3 or four blocks to ensure all parts of the tank have been
exposed to the bleach.
4. let it sit for 2 or 3 days.
5. flush the tank through all outlets including hotwaterlines.
6. refill the tank and flush again to get rid of the chlorine.
7. do NOT use or let others use the water until it has been fully flushed.
If this does not work repeat this process and then visit a retail outlet
that sells pool supplies and look for chlorine pellets small enough to be
put in the tank through the water fill connection. Add 1 or two pellets per
day while you are using the water This dosage is not strong enough to harm
anyone but you will be able to taste the chlorine.
The first application of bleach should be strong enough to shock the entire
system and should clean the tank.
