Tom brings up a good point on most any travel trailer.  Here at Port O'Call 
we have some Airstreams that have not been moved for 10, 20 or more years.  On 
some, the A frame is almost rusted through where it meets the trailer skin.  I 
saw one Airstream where the back bumper supports rusted through and the 
bumper was laying on the ground.  I think this would not be unusual for most 
trailers.  I say this to point out that any trailer must receive periodic 
maintenance whether they are on the road or parked permanently.  On Airstreams, we must 
scrape or sand away any rust as it forms and apply a new coat of paint.  From 
time to time, the joints and seams must be checked and re-caulked as required. 
 Water leaks will quickly destroy the floor.  I saw one Airstream here in the 
park where someone put his foot through the floor, through the aluminum under 
belly and his foot ended up on the ground because the floor rotted out.  We 
have to keep the bugs, spiders and such out of our appliances if we want to 
keep them working.  Spiders like to build in the refrigerator burner area.  Dirt 
daubers like to build nests in the water heater vent and on the fan in the air 
conditioner.  I recently found a lizard's tail in the burner tube on the 
water heater.  I guess he crawled in about the time the heater fired.  All that 
was left was his tail.  

Again, I say this to point out that we must keep up with the maintenance on a 
trailer.
