Joan thanks for the email.  From what I can determine in the older 
models their are numbers with meaning but with the newer models you 
don't get the same info.  However; with the older models it still 
doesn't tell you how many were made and where your model was in the 
number of A/S's made that year.  I was delighted to see that 
Airstream was able to tell me exactly what my line number was.  There 
were 7 Limited Editions made in 2001 and mine was number 2.  I would 
encourage you to send an email to info@airstream.com and give them 
your serial/VIN number and they can tell you exactly how many of your 
model was made and what number yours was.  I find this very 
interesting since the Airstreams aren't made in mass like the other 
RVs.
