Actually the front kitchen is kind of rare, overall.  The story I've heard
is that the first front kitchens were too heavy to the front, then they made
them with altered wheelbase and got them too light to the front, then
finally got it right.  By then, they had a bad reputation and they stopped
making them.  Kind of like the Corvair, by the time Chevrolet got the motor
sorted out, and a good rear suspension in them, their reputation was already
ruined.
But as you noted, they are an excellent floor plan, perhaps the best
non-slide.

Neal
