[A/S] Re: RV show in Houston 02/2004

Good observation Jim. The Houston dealer took over as the local
Houston Airstream dealer a couple of years ago. They sell a lot of
high-dollar RV brands as well as Airstreams. But A/S is obviously
not their bread and butter as is apparent by their A/S no-show.

I 've used their service department and found them to be polite and
experienced, just not very familiar with Airstreams. For example, I
had a broken rivet on the side and they didn't have any rivets to
replace it or a rivet tool. (One of their repairmen happened to have
his own.) They finally had to get A/S to send them a few rivets.
Luckily, it was still under warranty or I'd have had to buy my own
somewhere to avoid having to buy a whole box.

Someone on the list commented that A/S "doesn't need to advertise
because every Airstream built is already sold." I wish that was
true, and sales may be up, but my Blue Beret has A/S dealership ads
still trying to sell brand new 2002 and 2003 trailers on their lot.

RV design is highly competitive and always evolving. Even Airstream
realizes this or they wouldn't be building CCD's and adding slides
to their trailers. What better way to compare an Airstream to the
competition than to put them side by side.
