Jack,

You hit the nail on the head. It is that important. Our dealership sold 
several 34' slideouts the first year they came out. Despite the 
reinforcement around the hole the slide out sits in, there is a
tremendous amount of flex in the coach body when the slideout moves in and 
out. Extending the stabilizers before running it out helps keep the 
slideout and the coach body aligned. Running out the slideout first or 
leaving it out without can cause a twist in the coach that may or may not 
go back into place.
