Hunter, the first words out of my dealers mouth...do
not extend the slide unless you have the stabilizer's
set.  Now in retrospect I'll look at the ones he has
on display in the lot and see if he practices what he
preaches.

I really think its a matter of keeping things aligned
when opening and closing.  You have gaskets that have
to seat correctly to keep out wind and rain.  You have
things that have to slide and track correctly.  

I think the biggest sin would be to open with or
without the stabilizers set and retract with the
inverse of what you had when you opened.  I would
guarantee problems in that mode.  

To me if you had stabilizers retracted, extended the
slide and kept the stabilizers up, the slide will be
retracting in the same plane as when it was extended
and no problems should occur.  The only concern I
would have is whether you might cause some problem
over the long term since the slide and frame would not
have the support that was expected.
