Re: [A/S] Chevy Silverado

Patti,
My first 4WD was a new '77 AMC Jeep. Next came a used '77 K5 Blazer for
more room and comfort followed by a '92 K1500 Z71. I would not be without a
4WD for the snowy roads I sometimes travel and the mud I negotiate on
logging roads in the Tennessee woods. My '01 2500HD ext. cab shortbed has
maneuvered my 31' Excella 500 on gravel, wet grass and in one case mud. The
4WD feature sure helps in these situations. I will say this, I left the
Jeep at the house one winter afternoon and took my wife's AMC Javalin to the
grocery store. While shopping for the wife, it snowed 2". It took me over
an hour to travel 2 miles and get back home. The real culprit was a long
hill which took 4 trys to get to the top before making a left hand turn and
the fact that the Javelin had an open rear differential. Because of that, I
will never own a non-4WD vehicle and my wife's vehicle will always have a
limited slip or locker in the rear just like her current Astrovan has. It's
better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Where have
I heard that before!
