Re: [A/S] Chevy Silverado
Patti,
There is nothing wrong with the Duramax diesel and Allison transmission
combination. Go to www.pickuptrucks.com and look at all the posts on how
pleased people are with this combination. You will see more mileage figures
there from people who are running them with and without a trailer behind.
Hunter is on the money about the crewcab and a long bed. If you plan on
using this as a daily driver, I think you will not be pleased. The shortbed
is the way to go with the extended cab or the crewcab. Mileage posted by
Joe seemed a little lower than others but then he is towing a 34' unit. I
have a '01 2500HD with 8.1 litre gas engine and Allison transmission. I
took a 400 mile trip to Land Between the Lakes (TN.-KY.) and ended up with
15.1 mpg, no trailer, no AC. Most of this was interstate, 10 miles in the
woods and 10 miles or so going through Clarksville, TN. and Dover, TN. I
just got back from LBL yesterday towing a 31' '77 Excella 500 and clocked
9.9 mpg on the way there 68 mph on the interstate and 10.1 mpg coming back
64 mph on interstate to see if it made that much of a difference. Diesel
should beat all of these figures. Craig
