Things have changed as far as oil life in diesel engine oil changes go.
GM has a "normal" use change internal of approximately 7,500 miles and a
"severe" use interval of 5,000 miles. The engine computer actually
monitors use and lights an oil change message when it's calculations
determine it is time. Details of how it works are available if you are
interested.

I have an extended cab long bed and truly enjoy being able to carry all
my toys and tool in the truck instead of overloading the trailer. The
extended cab rear seat provides plenty of space for my needs. I have
taken care of the fuel availability by getting a third party replacement
tank (56 gallons) with a fast fill replacement neck. The truck stop
nozzles can be run wide open.
