Interesting post about diesels..... bu I have to disagree with this. I change 
the oil in my diesel truck every 3,000 miles when on the road with the 
trailer, and every 3,500 when not on the road traveling.

Oil changes, with a new air filter cost 70.00. Oil changes on a gas vehicle 
cost around 20.00.

A new gas filter every 15,000 miles is 75.00.

This summer diesel fuel was higher priced than gas everywhere I went, so no 
saving there. 

The orginial cost of the diesel is between $4,000-4,500.00 more than an 
equivilent gas engine (not that there is one, but one capable of towing heavy 
trailers)

Statistically, as the debate rages on on RV newsgroups, as I understand it 
the guys who should know say to break even with a diesel you would need to drive 
it 75,000 miles a year and keep it for 13 years.

Of course, everyone's situation is a little different..... so those numbers 
will vary a bit. 

My point is, nothing beats a diesel for towing, I love mine and would buy it 
again in a heartbeat...but not to save money.
