We live in NW Iowa and yes, it gets cold. Real Cold.
I don't blow out my lines or train the lines.   All we do is
Just pump in the Pink Stuff ( know to some as Potable
Anti Freeze)  making sure it comes out Full  Pink in color
from all valves so as to fill the "P" trap in the drain.
Work around one valve at a time both cold and hot as
well as the flush valve in the toilet.
Make sure you get most of the water out of your hot
water tank and all other tanks.   A little in the bottom
will not make any trouble for you.  Just leave the drains
open.
Also,  make sure the cover for the fresh water inlet is
cracked open a little.. That lets any water trapped in it
out.
Charge your batteries once a month for a day and
think Spring.
