RE: [A/S] jacks/stabilizer question a REAL story

While at the A/S factory recently, I was parked beside a 34' wide body with
a caved in rear section.  What had happened is that they had parked in a
National Park campground on a paved, but sloping pad.  He had installed the
BAL tandem wheel chocks between two of the three axles on both sides.  He
then unhitched the tow vehicle.  Moments later, BOTH of the BAL tandem
chocks (the kind that lock between tires) popped out and the trailer started
rolling backwards.  What stopped it was a tree, so the damage was repairable
but more substantial chocking could have prevented it.  You want as much
friction between the ground, the chock and the tire as possible.   

So the moral of this, is DON'T skimp on the chocks.  You are BETTING your
rig that the tires will not roll.
