[A/S] Need instructions on using public scales

seems to me, that in a once and long past time ago, there was an article about
how to weigh a towed trailer, axle by axle, on a public scale.

could someone  post the procedure??   I should think that we would also want to
know the axle weights for the tow vehicle also.

thanks much.  I have always wished I knew how to do this, how to ask to use the
scale at a truck stop like flying Js or whatever, etc....
