I don't know when they changed it, but on the 73 that I had you could 
drain the water tank without using the water pump, but I know the 76 
I had, you had to run the water pump to drain the tank. As far as a 
plug being in the bottom of the tank,before I would do anything I 
believe I would contact Airstream in Jackson Center about this.
