Lew,

You will soon be enjoying the lack of attention the fluorocarbon based 
clearcote Airstream has been using since Aug. of 1998 built coaches. We 
have been watching them come and go for 5 years now and the change is 
marvelous, simply marvelous. While there have been some very, very rare 
exceptions the new finish has made the old problem of clearcote finishes a 
non issue. Unfortunately it is not a field appliable coating.
The metal is first rolled into sheets, then sent to another mill for 
finishing in a controlled environment, then sent to Airstream where  it is 
cut, stress formed and sent to the production line.
Airstream still recommends the use of Walbernize to protect the finish. And 
any one that has used it knows it is a very slippery finish which 
discourages bugs etc. for sticking not only to your coach but to a tow 
vehicle as well. Try it, you'll like it.
