Hunter,
The carpet came out in under 5 minutes.  The difference might be that this was not the 
original carpet so it was laid like wall to wall carpeting and was not under anything.  
It took another 1/2 hour to get the tack strip and staples out of the floor.

PS...I found some remnants of the original carpeting...it was bright yellow shag.
