There's your answer, Hunter.  If you are on a 20 amp circuit, grilling 
will use 10.8 of those available amps.  That leaves 9.2 for your iron 
lung or any other critical loads.  If the rest of the loads are not 
critical, shed them (shut off) or make sure that you know where the 
breaker is located.  Hence the expression "nuisance trips".

Also note that if the voltage goes down (+/- 5% is considered acceptable 
in the industry) that the amperage will go up proportionally.  The 
breaker will not let more than it's rated current pass in any event and 
you will get more of the aforementioned nuisance trips.

All of the above is based on the assumption that you can grill/bake OR 
nuke, not both at the same time.  Otherwise you will surely be on candle 
power if you try to do both at once.

Also, the heat strip in the air conditioner is contra-indicated(*) while 
grilling your chops.  In fact the air conditioner may trip you out if 
the compressor kicks in while the bacon is broiling, as well.

[(*) Contra-indicated:  Drug companyese to let a doctor know something 
will finish the patient before Medicaid runs out.]
