Since I haven't heard anyone mention this possibility as a source of the
odor, I thought I'd mention it. When we bought our '81 International with
all original decor (yes, burnt orange/brown everything!), we had a pretty
disgusting odor. Some thought it must be dead, decaying animal. Another
thought it smelled like we had a propane leak. After chasing both of these
possibilities, we just happened to swap out the curtains with a new set of
drapes from James Ambruso. The smell went away. I think it may have been
the drapes disintegrating.
BTW, the drapes are great. We had blackout linings put in them. They seem
to help for insulation for late fall camping in the northwoods.
