Unfortunately, this is the nature of the beast and comes with the territory.
When the campground owner says, "pick any site and come back to register,"
I try to remember hose length to the spigot as one of my considerations.

For all practical purposes, the spigot in most commercial campgrounds will
be less than 50 feet away.

Of course if you decide to have outside water filters for all incoming water
(sediment and taste), you'll need to make up a short section. Likewise, if
you find it convenient to have another short section for the other side of
your Y (for outside hand washing) - that will mean a second short section.
