trailer registration

Well...(and I am trying to use my sense of humor here...)

The last time I checked there were at least 50 states to visit
and most of them can be conveniently visited with an Airstream.

When you leave home - you prepare.

You check your supplies and your vehicles and your spares etc...etc...

You make sure your mail is taken care of and the plants and the pets etc..etc..

Then you head out for the open road for whatever reason it is you like to 
travel.

Chances are - most trailerites will cross a state line at one point in time or 
other in their travels.

So it sure makes sense to me...when doing this...to keep in mind the fact that 
each state "may" have different approaches to different things.

In at least one state that I know of...my home state of Washington...
when we purchase a vehicle/trailer - we receive a title - and that promptly 
goes into safe keeping (not in a vehicle) - until such time as the 
vehicle/trailer is sold.

In the meantime...we buy tabs each year for the license plates on our 
vehicles/trailers.

It only makes common sense...to carry the "receipt" for these tabs...which is 
referred to as the "registration" in/with the vehicle. (remember I am only 
going to talk about my home state of Washington here)

The registration simply keeps things simple should you be stopped 
for "something" or if you unfortunately find yourself in an accident or 
something.

The registration simply speaks for itself - and your vehicle/trailer.

I don't see why it wouldn't make sense to carry it with you.

I also understand that if a state does not issue this type of paperwork - 
great - you'll simply comply with what your state has to offer. But...if you 
happen to leave a state (your state) that does not provide license tab 
registration paperwork - doesn't it make sense - to be prepared that some 
confusion may occur at some point in time as to why you don't carry/have 
paperwork. (and wouldn't you want to prepare for that - just like you would a 
flat tire or a dead battery?)

(There are millions of people in the world...and probably millions of RV's.)

On the other hand...if you like standing around trying to explain something to 
someone of authority in another state...fine...that's okay....it's all a matter 
of how you like to use your time - it's an interesting way to meet people as 
long as you don't have to watch your blood pressure....
