Cord on a reel can cause problems.
I stayed at a campground in New Mexico that (unknown to me) had low voltage. 
As previous posts have noted, this means higher amperage. And power is 
amperage squared x resistance. Gist of this is that the cord left on the reel 
MELTED from the heat. LOL. Bought a new 12 ga. cord at local hardware store the 
next day. <g>
