Blair, don't know haven't tried it. We don't boondock much. I bought 
the 2800 so that we could run the household fridge and freezer as 
well as the Airstream during power outages here at home. The 2800 is 
rated at 20 amps continuous IIRC. We got the 1000 to boondock with 
but decided that we are spoiled and like tv and air conditioning. 

What is the big difference between running the heat pump and the ac. 
Doesn't the same fan and compressor do both? If I remember, I'll 
hook her up tommorrow and see if the ac will run.
