[A/S] New tow vehicle

Hi folks!

I just talked to my dealer and was told that my new
tow vehicle came in Saturday. Is a 2003 GMC 2500
Savana passenger van with a Vortec 6000 engine and
4.10 rear axle. Tow rating is 9,900 lbs. Hopefully
the fellow who is interested in buying my Chevy van
will come through with a check tonight.

I decided to replace my brake controller and after
looking closely at the Prodigy and Jordan, I selected
the Jordan. It should be delivered before the week is
out. I pretty much chose the Jordan based on what I
consider the ability to mount the controller in most
any position. I'm really tired of my current Voyager
controller and my constant hitting it with my left
knee. Obviously there are other benefits that I am
aware of and I haven't found one nay sayer in my
research.

Two questions for the list. First how difficult is it
to remove the Jordan when it is not needed? We tend
to tow about once a month April through October. I
read that it was suggested to remove the unit to save
wear and tear on the mechanical components.

The next question my be a little more difficult to
answer. Does anyone have one of the newer vans and
where was the factory towing package wiring? I've
read that there is a GM harness that can be purchased
(or comes with some vehicles) that apparently plugs
into an area below the dash which allows you to
connect to your wiring from your brake controller.

My gut feeling is this is probably a feature with the
pickup trucks and the wiring for the van is probably a
harness that is wire only at each end and is not
terminated. I remember my '99 Chevy van wiring was
tied to the receiver, and the other side was in the
engine compartment, both sides unterminated.

Regards,

Jack
