[A/S] Stone Guards

Stone guards are supposed to protect the front lower corners of the A/S, and
they usually do a good job.  But, in so doing, they can get "beat up"
themselves, especially on roads such as the AlCan Highway.  A while back, I
met a fella (whose name I now cannot remember) who built a "Stone Guard
Protector" <grin>.  He took a sheet of 4' x 8' marine pylwood, cut a
(approx) 2' x 4' notch in one of the long sides so that it would fit over
the tongue of the trailer between the LPG bottles and the stone guards.  He
used marine plywood because it is constructed with waterproof glue, painted
the piece to match the A/S (epoxy blue, I think) and had a dandy shield for
bad road trips.  I thought it was a neat idea.

We just returned from a 3 week trip to Santa Barbara.  Got out of Colorado
between snow storms.  Had to dig out 4' & 5' deep drifts covering about 125'
of our drive to get to the county road.  Smooth trip after that. Came home
between storms, too.  Rained last night - snow in the mountains - where I
don't relish pulling the A/S with all the backsplash from the 18 wheelers on
I-70 <ha>. Have been there - done that!  Not fun!!!
