Hi Jim,
It seems to me Fantastic Vent Corp tried 3 times to make an 
unfortunately bad experience with their product into something good. 
They stand behind their products better than any company I have ever 
delt with--especially RV related products. I would contact them 
again. A Fantastic vent that does not work properly is not good 
advertising however you have to pursue it. The switch you are talking 
about is like a door jamb switch in a car, open the door, the curtesy 
light goes on. Similar to Fantastic Vent--open dome approx 2" and the 
fan will turn on.  Usually it is easy to remove and re-install the 
wire to it.  I would suggest using a pair of pliers to squeeze it 
alittle to compress it smaller so it fits tighter over the end of the 
plunger shaft.
