I did too, except in the bedroom. There I did a slightly weird thing. No 
matter what you do to the inside of the rear bedroom, It always looks 
like the inside of an ostrich egg with curtains. I'm still playing 
around with it, but since the windows dominate any attempt at interior 
desecration, I decided to run the blinds from the floor right up to and 
across the ceiling. I rigged it so the part over the window and the part 
over the vista views can be opened up, and the rest stays shut. It sort 
of looks like a porch, sort of. I put in a light with LED's and that 
works good. Still pondering the uncovered areas of the walls. Grass 
cloth wallpaper (?on a compound curve ???) tufted upolstery ?.

I run a piece of shock cord under the bottom slat that fits over the two 
window handles and keeps the blind up against the wall.

The reason I like blinds is you can get light in and still have privacy.
Plus I like to spy on the neighbors...
