I went the same way, but I have a truck.  The EU2000s have a lever on 
the fuel cap that shuts off the vent so it supposedly won't dribble 
if they're sideways.

Take a look at the measurements at:

and see if there's someplace in the trailer (between the bed and back 
wall for example) you can wedge them so they can't fly forward in a 
hard stop or accident.  Even the weight of a 2000 could do a LOT of 
damage flying around, and I still wouldn't trust them not to leak if 
they got knocked over and left that way for awhile.

I still wouldn't like the idea of generators, much less the big gas 
cans to feed them, in the trailer though (nor would I want them in 
the SUV).  Compared to an SUV, the bed of a crew cab truck, with 
tonneau cover or cap, is a wonderful place for stuff like that, and a 
nasty tote tank, muddy patio rug, greasy BBQ grill, firewood 
(possibly with termites or other bugs), outdoor equipment, etc.  I 
wouldn't want those in the trailer either, much less in the passenger 
compartment in an accident... especially a propane bottle coming back 
from the fill station.

Just my thoughts on it...
