 These things are just an electric heating element w/thermostat that is
installed into the drain plug of a regular RV water heater. The idea is that
you use the Park's electricity to heat your water rather than your propane.

If you're in a long-term park, you're probably paying for electricity, and
it might well be more expensive to heat water with a Hot Rod than with
propane. Of course, you don't need to get the bottles refilled as often, so
the trade-off might be worthwhile.

Although the Web Site that Hunter pointed to didn't give the wattage, I'd
bet that it'll heat water much more slowly than the main burner. That may or
may not be a problem, depending on your usage patterns. Many folks never
light their main burner, just letting the pilot light heat their water;
those people will be very happy with the recovery rate of the Hot Rod. If
you and your wife like to take back-to-back showers, and use more than a
couple of gallons/each, you'll probably want to use the main burner for its
faster recovery.

On your other subject: I believe that you said you have a 19' GlobeTrotter;
our 1968 G.T. (supposedly 20' long) weighed about 4000# when ready-to-roll.
As long as you don't pack the truck with too much "stuff" so as to approach
your maximum GCWR, you'll probably be OK. Be CERTAIN that your trailer
brakes are up to snuff and that you use a good controller. (Jordan or
Tekonsha Prodigy)
