I don't understand why anyone (other then economic reasons) would want 
to keep an old mattress! Having had children with asthma I found out 
that there are microscopic bugs in all mattresses, older ones more then 
newer. Not to mention the back problems associated with old mattresses.

1-800-mattres not only sells mattresses but can make them up to any 
size. I have a undersized bunk and they made one to fit to my 
dimensions. It wasn't expensive either! Camping World sells those pillow 
tops that conform to your body to help with new mattresses that aren't 
comfortable.
