[A/S] EU2000is, Winter living

Hi; I know I am very late coming in on these topics, but was away
for two weeks hunting (successfully) and came back to see these very
personal (for the last two weeks) topics. Here goes. I have an
EU3000is generator, and to move it anywhere one MUST have a wheel kit
on it, or be young and strong. I have wheels. The best option is to
purchase two EU2000i's and the parallel kit. This applies in the US
only, as in Canada, the EU2000i's are not compatable with the
parallel kits. I was going to trade my 3000 in on two 2000s this
year, but found that the 2000s up here have no connection ports for
the adapter kits. SO, buy US and buy EU2000's. Now, the winter
living. Most days were above freezing, with the nights at about 20
to 22 degrees F. The furnace easily kept up, and I used a 1500W
ceramic blower heater when the genny was running as it was free power
from an EU3000 just running a TV and VCR in the evenings. Several
nights it went down to 10 degrees F. and the furnace ran quite a
bit. I lasted about ten days on the first 30 lbs of propane, and
then the second clicked in. It is now about a third empty, so two
weeks - forty pounds of propane, and ten gallons of gas for the
genny. Now - when the heat was off, it took about two hours for
frost to begin to develop in the trailer, so that would indicate very
non efficient insulation. Humidity was also a problem for a good
portion of the time when cooking. I hope this is not too late to help
someone with their decisions. Hope it helps. Oh, I almost forgot.
When the temp was down to 10 degrees F. I had to run the genny to run
the furnace, as the batteries only lasted part of one night and both
had to be recharged the next day. Cold batteries are not good
batteries.

P.S. I wouldn't wish to live in this tin house all winter up here,
as twenty below zero would be a real challenge. I have tent camped
in that temp when younger and a scout leader, but I don't relish it
now.
