Just a little insight from a guy who hauled petroleum products for 
the last 15 years.   There IS a difference in the gas you get at the 
branded stations.

By law they have to have their own additive.  If its Texaco,its 
Texaco's additive. etc..
  
Now the UNbranded stations can sell what they call a generic gas. It 
meets the government specs. and that's it. No frills...  Like 
cleaning agents to keep the injectors clean.  

A good rule to follow is use the type of fuel the mfg. 
recommends,then if you should experence a pinging under engine load 
go to the next higher grade.
