This will seem really strange...but did folks ever put "bras" on Airstreams?

Yesterday we took off this black fiberglass skirt or Bra type thing[ like
folks put to keep bugs off the front of cars]. It was attached to the lower
third front of the '67 Safari and had been since about 69 or so and there
was no damage under it [looks like new under there]. We were expecting it
was there to cover up somne dreadful dent....what a treat to find it
unharmed. Except for the fact we have to fill the attachment holes with
rivets. Maybe we should have left it on but it was dirty and all scratched
and half fallen apart. I hadn't noticed any others but then I hadn't really
looked.

Lexxey...who's tearing apart that cheap 22' one from NC...
more full of questions than ever...
